Elmhirst’s resort is an all season, fifth generation owned and operated cottage resort, located 90 minutes northeast of Toronto. The property is nestled on the north shore of Rice lake with 1.5 km of shoreline, 250 acres (approximately 30 acres forested), and 6 km of trails.
It offers two farm to table restaurants, spa, conference facilities, air charter service, and a host of activities for the whole family, couple, or group retreat. Guest accommodations are all lakeside cottages that can house parties of 2 to 12, rates include full property access and programming. Additional recreation facilities include beach with canoes and kayaks, various sports courts, gym, as well as indoor and outdoor pool, powered rental boats are also available on site.

Each cottage features full kitchen and bathroom(s), smart tv and stereo, a deck with a propane BBQ, personal dock in the summer, and free WIFI. All cottages are located on the lakefront. One semi-detached building contains 2 cottages, all others are single detached.
Indoor Pool facility also houses a dry sauna and hot tub.

Rice Lake has a long history itself. Wild rice was once abundant (harvested by local Indigenous tribes). Today the wild rice still grows on the Indian River, near Keene, but blackbirds feed on the grain before it can be harvested. After construction of the Trent Severn Waterway canal system in 1915, travel from Rice Lake to Georgian Bay was best accomplished by steamship. The steady stream of pleasure craft plying the system continues today.
